Counselling in Coquitlam and the Tri-Cities for Anxiety, Burnout, and Caregiver Stress

Helping adults navigate anxiety, burnout, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions through compassionate, trauma-informed counselling in Coquitlam and across British Columbia.

Meet Your Registered Counsellor, Maryam Haghshenas

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Registered Social Worker (RSW) providing compassionate, trauma-informed counselling in English and Farsi for adults, couples, and caregivers in Coquitlam, the Tri-Cities, and across British Columbia through online therapy. My goal is to create a space where you feel understood, supported, and able to make sense of the experiences that have brought you to therapy, whether you're navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma, relationship challenges, or a significant life transition.

A Thoughtful, Trauma-Informed Approach to Counselling

I believe counselling is a sacred space, one where you can explore life’s challenges, reconnect with your inner wisdom, and feel supported as you move toward what matters most to you.

I work gently and collaboratively, with deep respect for how relationships, lived experience, and the systems around us shape the way we relate to ourselves, move through the world, and make meaning of our experiences.

My approach is deeply relational, grounded in intersectional, non-pathologizing and anti-oppressive frameworks that honour each person’s story, context and humanity.

At the heart of my work is the belief that healing begins in spaces where you feel met with compassion, curiosity, and care.

You do not have to keep carrying what has been too heavy for too long.

Counselling Support for Anxiety, Burnout & Life Transitions

Anxiety, Burnout & Emotional Overwhelm

Many of the clients I work with are navigating anxiety, chronic stress, burnout, emotional exhaustion, and the pressure of holding everything together for others. They often appear capable and successful on the outside while quietly feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or depleted. Together, we work to better understand the patterns contributing to these experiences and create meaningful, sustainable change.

Caregiver Burnout & Family Responsibilities

I support adults and those in caregiving roles who are navigating anxiety, depression, chronic illness, and compassion fatigue alongside the realities of caregiver burnout, caregiving stress, and emotional exhaustion. This includes individuals balancing demanding careers, parenting responsibilities, and caring for aging parents or loved ones, often while carrying significant responsibilities with little space left to care for themselves.

Couples Counselling & Life Transitions

I support individuals and couples navigating relationship challenges, communication difficulties, family strain, and significant life transitions. Together, we explore the patterns shaping your relationships, sense of self, and emotional wellbeing, creating space for greater understanding, connection, and meaningful change.
