My Approach to Counselling
Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. My clinical approach is compassionate, collaborative, client-centred and culturally responsive.
I draw from a range of evidence-based and relational approaches to support clients navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma, relationship challenges, caregiver stress, grief, and life transitions. Together, we work at a pace that honours your lived experience, your nervous system, and your goals for change.
A Counselling Space Rooted in Safety, Connection & Understanding
I believe counselling can be a meaningful and supportive space where you can explore life’s challenges, deepen self-understanding, and reconnect with your inner wisdom. My work is grounded in the understanding that people’s inner worlds are shaped by relationships, systems, culture, and lived experience — not isolated from them.
My approach is relational, non-pathologizing, and anti-oppressive. This means I do not see struggle as something that exists solely within you, but as something often shaped by the relationships, expectations, systems, and experiences surrounding you.
Therapy That Supports the Whole Person
Many of the people I work with are used to holding everything together externally while internally feeling disconnected, depleted, or unsure how to move forward. Therapy can offer a place to slow down, make meaning, and begin creating change that feels grounded and sustainable.
I support clients navigating a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges, including:
Anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm
Burnout, chronic stress, and compassion fatigue
Trauma, PTSD, complex trauma, and the lasting impact of distressing experiences
Childhood wounds, attachment injuries, and patterns that affect present relationships
Relationship stress, communication challenges, and couples counselling
Grief, loss, and major life transitions
Caregiver burnout and the emotional weight of supporting aging parents or loved ones
Chronic illness, dementia, Alzheimer’s, and family caregiving stress
Cultural identity, immigration stress, intergenerational expectations, and geopolitical stress
Feelings of disconnection from yourself, your needs, your emotions, or the people around you
A Culturally Responsive & Anti-Oppressive Approach
My practice is deeply committed to cultural humility, equity, and anti-oppressive care. I recognize that mental health is shaped by personal experiences as well as broader social, cultural, political, and systemic realities.
I strive to create a counselling space where clients feel seen, respected, and understood within the fullness of their identities and lived experiences. I offer counselling in both English and Farsi, and work with clients navigating cultural identity, immigration stress, intergenerational expectations, geopolitical stress, and the emotional impact of belonging to multiple worlds.
Evidence-Based Therapy Approaches
My work integrates evidence-based approaches tailored to each client's individual needs and goals. I believe therapy is not only about managing difficulties, but also developing insights, resilience, healthier relationships and a stronger sense of self.
EMDR Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) supports clients in processing traumatic or distressing experiences and reducing the emotional intensity connected to painful memories.
Solution-Focused Therapy
Solution-Focused Therapy supports clients in identifying strengths, resources, and practical next steps that can help them move toward meaningful change.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Anxiety
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps clients better understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and coping patterns, creating space for more supportive ways of responding.
Mindfulness & Somatic Approaches
Mindfulness and somatic approaches support grounding, nervous system regulation, and a deeper awareness of how emotions, stress, and lived experiences are held in the body.
Narrative Therapy
Narrative Therapy helps clients explore the stories they carry about themselves, their relationships, and their lives, allowing space for new meaning, self-compassion, and agency.
Internal Family Systems Therapy
Internal Family Systems (IFS) helps clients explore different parts of themselves with curiosity and compassion, supporting deeper self-awareness, integration, and healing.
